            Tuesday, March 2 - Cougars Run Down Patriots

 

                    Boys            Hope LHS Patriots            42     (0-24, 0-18)

                                        Mabel-Canton Cougars    76     (8-14, 9-7)

 

            Highlights:   In a game of two halves, the Patriots saw the first half get away from them being down 33-12 at the half.   Jason

            Klug, who scored all 19 of his game-high points in the second half led a hustling, ball stealing second half which brought them to

            within single digit deficit on different occasions.  The Patriots worked hard and kept the ball moving but the inside play of the

            Cougars proved to be to much.  Coach Meyer commented after the game that he was pleased to see the team work well together

            all season long.  Meyer stated, "The goal for the entire season was to work hard and become a better team this year, and this

            team did that.  The focus all along was for next year; this team will be a good team in the conference if they continue to work

            hard and play together."

Thursday, February 25 - Welter Sends Game into Extra Period

Highlights:   In a game that was much closer than the final score reflected, the Patriots led a good portion of this contest.  Todd Welter knotted up the game at the regulation buzzer by making a steal and scoring.  At that point it was 51-51 going into the extra period.  Turnovers ended up being the hex of the Patriots who finally ran out of steam in the extra period while having only one bench player the entire evening.  This now ends the Patriots regular season and will head into Sub-Sectionals on Tuesday, March 2 at Mabel-Canton.
